Hi

In due to have surgery 16th April, for three weeks I’ll be having liquids only. I need to have two and a half pints of Fluid a day, two of which need to be high Protein fluids. I’m trying to plan....how long roughly did it take you to drink 200mls of fluid?

I'm 11 days out from my RNY, and have been drinking 100 oz a day since my first day home from the hospital. It takes all day. I get ip and have 10 oz Protein Shake over about 45 minutes, then fill up a 24 oz bottle with Crystal Light and start sip, sip, sipping. I repeat all day, having about 30 oz Protein shake, and the rest either Crystal Light or warm tea. I finish around 7 pm. Good luck!! It is possible.

You're welcome! It helps that i have not gone back to work, so my "job" is sipping and walking!! Best to you!

I didn't set timers, but just sopped slowly. The day I got home from the hospital I had no problem with liquids. Just don't gulp, but take baby sips. I probably sip 4 oz in 15 minutes. The liquids go right through your piuch pretty quickly.

My doctor said popsicles and cup of hot broth also counts as fluids.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
