Recommended Posts

Hi, I have my surgery on April 3rd, On the pre opt diet it's hard but ill survive :) So I've had 5 major surgeries in my life chest cracked open and others. I tried the sleep back in May but had scar tissues from a lap band and he wasn't able to do it said come back in 6 weeks, well i thought i'm not ready for round 2 just yet . Tries to lose on my own again, fail 15 lbs then thats it. So I found a new surgeon, anyways now I'm track to have it. Well , i guess everyone thinks you been through many surgeries it should be a breeze. NOT! I think i have anxiety because i know all that goes into it recovery and pain. I've been reading all the forums and seeing others experiences , allot not to positive to be frank , some are . :) Anyways looking for little inspiration and support today. :)

Of course it’s going to be stressful, but soooooo worth it!!! When I get anxious I just think of what my life will look like a year from now and the confidence it will bring me! Also, don’t be afraid to ask for meds to deal with anxiety. It’s helpful!

I think people tend to go to the forums to look for support when they need it, but when things are going well they don't think to include in their every day activities. So I don't think it shows a realistic view of just how many successful WLS people there are.

I struggle with my food choices but otherwise I haven't had any complications regarding my surgery. I hope things go well for you as well!

my experience has been way different from most of the posts I read here, mostly because of my surgeons approach to pain management, diet, and follow-up. I had a pain pump for 4 days, this alleviated all but the soreness in getting in and out of bed. I have had no nausea, sliming or vomiting, except once when I overate. I have lost 50lbs post op. I am 4 months out.

please don't be discouraged. we all have our stresses and issues.

Just remember this is your journey. Try not to compare yourself to others. You will have ups and downs as you progress. Just take one day at a time and know this is a tool. There are lots of people on this site to support you. Hang in there and know you got this.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
