Period won't go off

Recommended Posts

i am only on month 2 since surgery. My period before surgery was the night before and during the hospital stay.. ( November) in December it showed up 10 days late.. but then my cycle was normal. In Jan.. now.. LOL I am not at 3 days late from the 10 days late.. LOL.. So i am sitting and waiting to see when this sucker is going to decide to show up this month.

Mine's been weird too. A couple weeks ago, I was supposed to have my period. And had all of the hormonal signs I was going to have it (acne, bloating, cramps, etc), but then just didn't. I think our hormones are just going nutty and it does weird things to our cycles.

Sooooo...my period keeps stopping and starting, spotting and not spotting. Any one else experience this? How long will this last? Heavy then light then none at all, then bam back on. This sucks.

Mine has been weird I had my period the week before my procedure. So for my first period after lasted 10 days when before surgery they would last 3 or 4. It was light 3 days heavy 3 days then light again 4 days.

I don't know how old you are, but I've read that having the surgery can bring on menopause a little earlier. I think some irregularity is normal as your body processes the trauma of major surgery.

I had ablation in 2010 with tubal. Was told by Dr that after surgery first one or 2 could be heavy. Yep happened. Month 3 period spotting period spotting you get the gist all the way to Dec. Have pcos. Went back to gym. Provera to stop it and here I am 47 and back on birth control. Ultrasound showed 2 small fibroids says not big enough to be the issue. Biopsy on Wed of lining. Mine def grew back per the ultrasound. She won't redo the ablation. I don't like her suggestion as not a guarantee to stop spotting. She tells me usually wls corrects pcos. Your body is doing everything it shouldn't be. Ha welcome to my world!!

Think I'll be staying on bc until my weight stabilizes then see where I am. I don't expect to see menopause until 52-53.

Mine has gone bizarro but I blame the melon sized fibroid I can now feel in my decreasing abdomen. The first period postop was fine but the second was unbelievably heavy and just kept going through to the third one which has now been hanging around with manky old brown blood for two weeks. I'm sure for a gynae appointment soon so I'll ask then.

And may your appointment go well but with a fibrous that size you just might get spayed to rid you of it. But we will see how things go, either way I will be keeping you in my prayers.😝🙏😝and may there be,a 🌈 rainbow at the end.

Me!! I'm on my second period of the month and it just won't stop! I have never had this happen before and its driving me crazy. Everytime I think it's over, it starts up again. The only thing I can think of that can be causing it is the weight loss/surgery.

Also definitely too young for menopause over here. Just a whacked out cycle.

Yea, so mine showed up the night before surgery...basically I was spotting. It's been happening ever since at last once a week. This week has been heavier. I feel like it hasn't really stopped since 12/11. But maybe now that it was more of a regular flow for me? I'm 57 and I thought I was finally at menopause so go figure. However, I do know that Estrogen gets stored in our fat cells and as we lose....well, my guess is the weight loss/hormone/period thing is all related. I'm hoping things settle down again but if they don't, I'll seek medical advice.

This has been happening to me, too. And I have Mirena and NEVER had my period for like 5 years. But somehow it is breaking through. I will have my period one random day. Then nothing for 2 weeks. Then another random day. It is unpredictable and annoying. Doc said it will just happen until all the hormones settle down... whenever that is.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
