RNY 12/17 Over inflated

Recommended Posts

This gas they filled me with is crazy! I'm a week PO and every day I feel like I'm eating a huge bowl of Beans and paying the price. I think maybe it has tapered off but then BAM! it's back with a vengeance. I might have to get the gas-x but I've been told that it just has to work it's way out. Is that right?

I had the same problem. It was terrible. In the hospital the Surgeon order a suppository for me. It did help. I was also told to lay on my left side as much as tolerable. It is the path of least resistance for the gas to escape. I also took a dissolvable gas pill several times a day they tasted like mint so it was a treat It does get better, this too shall pass Literally.

Had my sleeve done on the same day, and GasX is the best thing ever. Also, walking around the house has helped a lot as well. Good luck!

Can someone explain to me why GasX helps, when the gas is actually pumped into your abdominal cavity, and not into your intestines? :-)

The gas-x has helped me as well as walking. I am PO sleeve day 5. I'm still gassy, but not nearly as much as I was that 1st day Jesus! And dr8nking slow sips of liquids help move it and hot showers, believe it or not.

Are you having regular bowel movements? I noticed when I get constipated I tend to have a lot more gas. Constipation is a real problem after the RNY surgery so make sure you are aware of any issues before they get too severe.

I had my bypass 12/17 too. It’s better now but was brutal for a good 6 days. Walking definitely helped and I wish I’d walked more sooner. I was given a prescription for liquid colase, if needed, so I may bring that into the mix if this lasts another day or two.

I had zero gas pain post-op because my surgeon said he spent a good amount of time sucking it all back out. lol. But everyone says GasX helps. I don't understand why it would help, but I think they have dissolvable tabs you can take.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
