Week 4...going to soft food & nervous!

Recommended Posts

Just take your time with the transition and do not move onto soft food if you do not feel ready. It took me quite awhile to transition over. Make sure all the food soft and not dry.

Yogurt was definitely one of the easiest things for me! I had a tough time with scrambled eggs (still do at 8 weeks out). I love pea Soup so that was pretty easy (no chunks)! Good luck and like Oct517 said, take it slow!

eggs were pretty easy for me. One of my go to is ricotta bake (just google eggface ricotta bake). Really good. I add some sauteed and pureed spinach. I also really do well with tilapia - just need to find more ways to cook it!

I keep the individually packaged frozen tilapia fillets in the freezer. I like to poach them in a little simmering Water with lemon slices and some pepper. Comes out very soft and tasty and quick, too!

My go-to on the soft food phase (and still) is oatmeal.

I do too. Although each fillet is 6oz and all I can eat is 2, so that’s a bit inconvenient. I’ve tried to chop them frozen with a cleaver, but that makes a mess. :). So quick to cook. Made a great tilapia the other day. Bariatric Foodie’s tilapia with fire roasted Tomato sauce (minus the asparagus) - so good!!!

Fortunately, I give my left-over tilapia to hubby who makes a fish taco out of it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
