Mine does too. The bastage. So far the thing that works here is hot decaff coffee (black) and hot herbal teas (black or green). I think it's the bitterness maybe that quenches any craving for wine for me?

Fluffy - I'm already pretty bitter.... 👹

LOL, this made me laugh.

I struggle, too, with people making unhealthy eating choices around me. I know that a lot of the struggle is mental and when I'm in a good mindset (I suffer from mental illness) I can generally post-pone eating in an ugly manner (e.g. food I shouldn't eat, or make good choices when I order out.) It helps having a support group (like this) when you are about to make a bad choice.

I try to remember the reasons why I am doing this surgery. Not only for health reasons, but because I want to feel good about myself. Some of us may unconsciously want to self-sabotage that progress because we don't think we're deserving of . . . well, feeling GOOD about ourselves. But it's okay. You have every right to access self confidence and make yourself feel good about how you look and what you've done.

I want food to mean something, just not some garbage that I shoved into my mouth. I will not deny that food is a very socially oriented activity and while they are definitely alternatives, I feel that successful WLS is embracing how to compromise the new lifestyle (if you know what I mean.)

Anyway, I feel like I'm rambling. :) Work is a stressful time for me concerning food (especially with my mental illness) but I'm trying to find forgiveness in myself so I can move on and make better choices the next time around.

Hang in there, I'd like to tell you that after awhile you won't mind the food fest others are partaking, but I'm not going to lie to you. These challenges will exist forever....sucks doesn't it.

But just make one decision at a time, 'I will not cave in to the pizza.' Get out a clothing catalog and picture yourself wearing one of the fabulous outfits - hell go to the computer and order something....lol Go put on lipstick (and perfume so you smell it and not pizza) - you won't feel like messing up your lipstick with food - tell the hubs not to pig out too much or he will be in a food coma and no nookie...lol (he'll leave the table for that lol)

See you aren't thinking about that food now are ya!!!

LOL, i love this!!! Fabulous advice!!! Dang food...it's everywhere!!! hahaha! Will-power. I'm working on it. So far, so good. It may sound silly, but I haven't fit in Victoria's Secret for a very long time, I keep telling people I am just waiting for the day I can shop there. Nothing wrong with Cacique, but I wanna carry that pretty pink bag around the mall proudly!!!

So my family is over for the evening and ordered pizza...and Coke. Ughhhh. I love them but I want to punch them and their metabolisms. I kid, I kid. LOL

The smell of pizza id driving me crazy!!! It's not even good pizza either...it's Pizza Hut!

Does this craving ever go away? I seriously feel like a friggin drug addict biting my nails waiting for them to put it away so I don't have to keep smelling it. I don't want them to stop living their lives because of me. But dang it, this is hard. I've stuck to my guns, haven't given in. I know this is an addiction, and like I've said before, I take it one meal at a time.

I am so eager to change and put that part of my life behind me. food never made me happy, it actually made me incredibly unhappy.

Ok, vent over. I'll just sit here and sip my Protein soup....🤪

There's no denying it, this is hard. Especially the first couple of months where you really can't eat. When you're further out, know that you can have a bite of pizza. Lots of times knowing that you CAN is all that you need. It's all head games. Definitely feel free to take a walk or something when it really bothers you. Not forever, just while you're really struggling. That's not selfish, it's coping. It does get easier, I promise!

p.s. I love the Skinnytaste website. She remakes standard recipes in a healthier version and includes all the protein/calorie info. Very helpful.

have you tried alternatives? I would say if you plan on having them over and they didn't just pop in lol.. and if you are at a food stage.. get the snack size real good pizza/ made with chicken or cauli crust. Maybe you will feel like you are participating rather than being on the sideline/ I am only 1 day post op, but I plan on participating with alternatives in the future so I wont feel like I am being left out.

This all starting to confuse me now, can't sleevers have anything they want but just in moderation? What is the worst thing that can happen if you had just one tiny slice of pizza and a coke 30 minutes later? Wouldn't that be possible? I didn't have surgery, still in the research phase, so please explain anyone!

I agree, so many mind games! Thank you so much for the link! I'll be researching the alternatives big time!! Did your sense of smell heighten after surgery? I feel like mine did and I can smell what everyone is making fo dinner every night LOL...maybe I'm crazy!Thank you for your encouragement, its nice to come here and just let it out to the people who are going through the same stuggles!!! Never tried a chicken crust! I'll have to give that a go. Thank you!!! And best of luck on your journey. It's not easy but shedding this weight makes it worth it each day :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
