Two days away from banding...

Recommended Posts

Hello...I am excited and a little nervous about my Lap Band surgery. I am scheduled for surgery on 11/13/07. My surgeon is great and I have been comforted with all the information he has provided.

I seriously thought this day would never come...I have been preparing since July for this surgery. My doc required a psych test, sleep study, and pre surgery diet...so needless to say I am glad all of that is behind me and now I can try and believe that this surgery is going to happen.

Anyways....I am trying to compile a shopping list for my post op diet. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

suggest you search for "shopping list". Many bandsters have posted info.

here is a good thread...

Hi Sillygirl (love the SN)!

Welcome to LBT! Congrats on your surgery. Most doctors have different post-op instructions, so what are your post-op instructions? I had to do Clear liquids for a week so I bought lots of Jello, popsicles, broth(which I could not drink-hate the taste), low sugar apple juice and bottled Water. Congrats again and good luck on your surgery tomorrow!

I am nervous but excited about how I will look in the next year. I have so much on mind that I can't take this my mind is racing. I think I will live on this board for the next twenty four hours. I have to go get my nails done. Must look as good and natural as possible for the surgery.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed. I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
