Here's another random question - since I am the master of those!

Did anyone notice any dramatic changes in acne/skin clearing up after surgery? Did changing your diet habits have any positive effect on your skin?

I get some cystic acne on my forehead (fortunately covered by bangs) and have tried every.single. topical treatment out there. I also get small white-head spots pretty frequently on my chin. I'm wondering how effective a change in diet has been to help with this kind of issue. I was considering scheduling yet another dermatologist appointment, but maybe I shouldn't bother if clear skin may be in my future?

I get bad hormonal cystic acne and a few blackheads and regular pimples here and there. By day three of the pre-op liquid diet my skin was glowing from all of the bone broth- I guess that collagen really does improve your skin!

The whole starving myself under medical supervision thing also caused me to have a breakthrough period, which was literally a living hell. Evwn with that I only got two small pimples that have already faded, when the norm is usually two or three big cystic pimples that hang around for weeks.

So long term, I’m not sure. But so far my skin loves the liquid diet (and that’s the only part of me that does)

also i I know you say you’ve tried every topical but have you tried differin? It used to be Rx only and is now OTC. It doesn’t completely clear all of my acne, but it manages it very well

Yup. I've tried Differin. The only medicine I haven't tried is oral Accutane, which has extremely crazy side effects. I was even on antibiotics for 8 months to try to clear it up! Sometimes Retin A has helped, but as soon as it clears up, more just pop up, so it isn't preventative in any way. The cystic acne on my forehead is very painful!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
