We're releasing 4 new flavors of BariatricPal Protein One. Coffe will be one of the new flavors. Would you prefer Caffeinated or Caffeine free?

I vote caffeinated, but given how WLS patents are told to avoid caffeine and all, just seems a bit odd/off to me for a WLS site to be offering something that we are told to avoid. Just my 2 cents, I still drink coffee every morning at this point personally.

Will you all be offering samples? I've had some pretty nasty coffee flavored Proteins in the past.

The official ASMBS guidelines on Caffeine are:

The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) is a leading organization for weight loss surgery. It suggests avoiding caffeine for the first 30 days after weight loss surgery because your stomach or surgery area is still sensitive. After that, be mindful of getting enough fluids and be sure to avoid high-calorie, sugary sources of caffeine.

I wrote an article on Caffeine and WLS. You can read it here. IMO the only issues with caffeine are if it causes you acid reflux.

I think we are going to release a caffeine free and caffeinated version to make everyone happy. We offer single serving size samples so you don't need to commit to an entire tub.

We have 57 members for caffeinated and 42 for caffeine free.

It's a real shame that FaceBook is taking over this earth!! :)

Caffeine!

And my doc never limited it. We could have coffee in the hospital if we wanted.

My surgeon said because of ulcer issues he would advise no espresso or other coffees, but he didn't say I couldn't have a cup of Positivitea.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
