Good morning everybody I have a tentative date for the end of September so it's coming up pretty quick. I have some questions about Vitamins. I been told that I will have to get the chewable. Vitamins. Although after doing some research I have seen others just crush or pulverize they're normal vitamins and take them that way. How long will I have to be on chewable or crushed vitamins? I am on a very limited fixed income so purchasing specialty chewable vitamins is really cost prohibitive for me. What are people's experience with post-surgery vitamins? Also how long before I can take my vitamins in the normal way. Thank you

Please share more information about the Vitamins you currently take.

I never had a problem taking my meds whole, even my horse pills, post-surgery.

Have you been told that a Multivitamin is the only supplement you'd need after your surgery?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
