Finally, A Surgery Date!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I finally got my pre-op and surgery date! Pre-op is Nov. 28th and surgery is on Dec. 4th. I will be banded by Dr. Richard at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville, GA. I am so excited!!

I have been reading the posts on this site and would like to say that the amount of support that you have for each other is amazing. I have tried to get as much information as possible on what I will be going through. I do realize that I can't base my experience on anyone else's because we all are unique individuals.

It just helps me to know what some of you have experienced so that I won't totally freak out if it were to happen to me! Any advice you have for a new bandster will be greatly welcomed!!

:whoo:

Congrats!! That was an exciting and scary time for me...LOL My advice would be to make sure you get all of the information you can from your surgeon before the surgery. I feel blessed that most everything I went through, my doc had covered it! Also, don't be shy about calling the doc, that is what they are there for. If you don't know something ASK! GOOD LUCK on your journey!

Hi Sandy! I too am in Georgia & having my surgery done by Dr. Johnson with Atlanta Bariatrics in Johns Creek.

I see Dr. Johnson on Friday, so should be able to set my surgery date then.

Let me know how you progress..

Tiffany

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
