Is this an overnight thing or What? How many needed to have one done?

When I had mine they sent me home with a little machine that hooked up to me in various places and I was to sleep with it on. So it was a whole night but at home.

Hi. I went to a center for an overnight study. It was a necessity for me because I snore and I was found to have sleep apnea.

Mine was overnight at a sleep center. I had to stop any caffeine by 4 pm, be there by 9pm, get my wires hooked up, be in bed by 11 and i was out around 6 am. Its not bad, just don't plan to get a good night sleep.

My was a necessity as well, ordered by the surgeon. They want to see if you have sleep apnea. My PCP had been trying to get to have one for a year but I did not want to have to do it at a sleep center. Luckily the one ordered by my surgeon was mailed to me and all I had to do was hook up the little box to myself and sleep at least 4 hours. I have sleep issues and I woke up just shy of 4 hours so I just laid there still and relaxed and it went fine. Come to find out I do have sleep apnea and now use a cpap machine. It definitely helps with keeping my nasal passage clear but I still suffer from hardly sleeping more than 3 to 4 hours a night. Have some vivid and crazy dreams now too, and I remember them when I wake.

also overnight at center, finished up around 4:30 a.m. and was sent home. The sleep Apnea was the primary driver for me to get sleeved.

@Ellens531, why are you having a Doppler of your legs? Are you prone to lymphedema like I am? I am hoping my surgery and weight loss will take pressure off so they will drain out better. I really don't like puffy calves and ankles. I was trying to avoid taking my Lasix and K Clor, My surgeon Dr Needleman noticed my,puffy left,ankle, said "You are taking your Lasix aren't you?" OMG I'm busted! So back tinkling in overdrive. Oh well, it is for the BEST isn't it??

I too had to have a sleep study. The center I went to was nice, like a hotel room. Only difference was being hooked up to monitors. It doesn't hurt, its just uncomfortable and annoying. Especially if you aren't used to sleeping on your back all night. I was waken up at 430 to go home as well.

Mine was overnight at the hospital I had my surgery at. The room was set up like a hotel room. I had wires all over my head, legs and arms. I also had two straps with wires around my chest. I barely slept at all lol I was out by 6am and I went home, showered (bc you have goopy stuff all over your head from the leads) and slept for 6 hrs.

I had to have two sleep studies, the first one was to get a baseline, the second one was the exact way except I had to wesr a cpap.

I got a little machine that I had to use for three nights at home. Very annoying. Surprised I passed with how many times it woke me up.

I've had 2 done since March. Each time, I went straight to work from the sleep center. It was pretty easy. Uncomfortable with the wires, monitors and the CPAP, the second time I was in. The info they gather is very useful.
