Moment of weakness

Recommended Posts

So part time I make deliveries for postmates. not that I need it it's just something to do. my last delivery was little Cesar's pizza. after the order was paid for the customer canceled their order therefore I get a free pizza by default. I had the sleeve done on April 25th and I've gone from 280 to 217 so far. long story short a slice of pizza battled it's way into my mouth. worst tummy discomfort I've had in a long while. needless to say I won't attempt that again any time soon. have you had a moment of weakness? if so what did you eat and how did it make you feel?

Yes, and I felt awful physically and emotionally!!! I ate 5 pieces of dark chocolate, some ice cream, and a chocolate chip cookie all in one day.
This was yesterday in fact. I am 7 week’s post op and feel like a complete failure. Today is a new day though...back on track. food addiction is real and I hate it!!!

Mom's homemade poppy seed bread. Guh...so good. First time, I had a big ole slab and felt ghastly...at about 3 months out. She recently brought me some more *sigh* (she has memory issues)... and I had a tiny slice and had hubby take the rest to work.

Took a couple tries, but at least I'm winning the war:) This last time...I did just fine...a very small piece is workable in my diet. But the first time, not gonna lie, I blew it in a big way!

It's been a favorite since I was a kid...and when it's hot and fresh and homemade....man it's tough!

Live and learn:)

You really don't. It's insanely addictive and made from a secret Czechoslovakian recipe.

it's pure poison!

(But, so damned good...)

I will not be your pusher!

Cannot share the family secret recipe....but this is similar:

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/220763/old-world-poppy-seed-roll/

Only Mom will snip the edges of the roll with sissors so it kinda "blooms" as it cooks and get all carmelized and gooey.

Avoid. Run Away! Do not bake this!

You were warned.

I keep trying ice cream and keep throwing most of it away - it makes me burp constantly, or at least that gas buildup that makes you feel like you need to burp but can't.

What's really wild? My great grandparents (Slovakian immigrants) planted a poppy field JUST to make this old world bread (and of course planted it by the road to share the pretty flowers with their neighbors)...and got visited by the feds because their dozen children were out there barefoot working the fields and neighbors driving by got concerned. LOL

No, officer, our children are not opium slaves, we are making tasty sweet bread.

That said....this is some addictive freaking bread.

Pirate booty---every damn time. My kids eat it and those sneaky little bits off cheddar goodness keep wandering into my mouth.

But holy weight loss Batman! @BruceWayne 63 pounds?! I was sleeved on 4/27 and have lost 42---this does nothing to change my opinion that men suck.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
