There really isn't any way to ensure you won't, the stresses of surgery coupled with the drastically reduced calorie intake both before and after surgery is what causes your follicles to enter their rest phase. It doesn't happen to everyone, and it doesn't happen the same way for all either. But, most folks, around month 3 or so will "lose" hair as the follicles start back up again, kick out the old hair and start over.

You can take all your vitamins, you can take biotin, you can take all sorts of other things, but... there really isn't anyway to guarantee you won't lose some hair.

I started losing lots of hair around months 3-5. It’s levelled off now, still more than usual but seems to be evening out. Luckily my hair was very thick to begin with.

Most people seem to start noticing regrowth around months 9-12 from what I’ve seen.

And remember it is important to meet you daily protein requirement to avoid hair loss.
