Gaining weight back

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve 4 years ago and have gained back 15 pounds. I'm a stress and night time snake. My mother moved in with me 2 years ago with alzheimers and I've been a prisoner in my own home since then. No more walking no more socializing what can I do

Track your intake, and track your calorie burn per day and make sure you eat less than you burn.

Also, check your current Basal Metabolic Rate, because I'm sure it's lowered since you started 4 years ago, our BMR is the amount of calories we need to just be alive (think in a coma, alive but not moving)... BMR drops as you get older, and as you get thinner. So figure out what you burn in a day without any added exercise and eat under that amount of calories and you'll be losing weight again.

Also, keep drinking the water... can't process fat without water!

Can you get a sitter for your mother for a little while each day or a few times a week so you CAN get out and get to the gym and have a life?

I'm so sorry that you have to go thru this with your mom. It' is so hard to have your life changed and all out of whack too. I think you are very courageous> I also took care of my Mom and my Mother in Law in their last days. It was very hard to leave to go even to the store. You worry the whole time you are gone. Maybe you can go back to your basic program. I know it will be hard but you don't want your weight gains to continue. I would go back to measuring everything. Write everything you eat and drink down in a journal. It helps when you can actually, see where you are at. I don't know if this will help but good luck. BTW be sure you are getting your Water and Protein in.

It's not as fun as getting out to the gym, but you might try doing exercises at home with resistance bands or something like that. The exercise would help lower your stress level, too. I can't imagine how challenging it is for you right now. I hope you find a way for things to get better.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
