  • Popular Post

Just got my date today, 06/18/18. I’m partially excited, and also terrified. I’m very happy to have a date to work towards and get everything in a row, because the unknown was driving me crazy!

I'm trying to get into a good routine of eating better. I started yesterday and did good until last night. Ugh. This morning I felt really bad and so I ate a bunch of Protein stuff and it helped me feel better. I'm a borderline diabetic, but no meds.

No more sodas for me. I am trying really hard to cut out snack between meals. My hard thing is what to cook / eat.

I'm a teacher so I guess I need to pack my lunch each day. Any suggestions? Then at night, my family of four has such diverse tastes and I know they won't like anything I make. I'm stressed about that.

I'm with you in trying to get into the routine of eating better. I know I'm going to struggle with the liquid diet pre- and post-op so I'm trying to prep myself now by doing a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, at least 40 ounces of water, and then eating an actual meal for dinner (baby steps).

I've been CRAVING soda big time, but I started putting crystal light and crush packets into my bottled water when I get the sugar craving. When I'm craving a snack, I just kind of ignore that craving and drink water. Which probably isn't a good habit, but I'm trying to practice my self control plus I know dehydration is a big issue after surgery.

You could try meal prepping the night before or meal prepping for the week, and maybe get your family in on it. Doing crock pot meals, or starting on creamy broths and soups. The nutritionist gave me a list of proteins and vegetables that I should start eating. Hope this helps and good luck!!

I have received my surgery date of june 21 and really need support around the prep. I need to be on liquid protein for 2 weeks prior (starts around June 9). I’ve started to drink a shake for breakfast some days but keep wondering how I will do this for 2 weeks straight . I’m worried about post surgery too. I’m a hard core food addict for 50 years and can’t imagine how I will stop using food after the surgery. Any support is much appreciated.

June 26th

Mine is June 28th! I've completed everything so now I am just anxiously waiting...

I have my sleeve scheduled June 8th. I'm a teacher as well with the same concerns as you all (feeding my family, liquid diet, ect.). That's what we're all here for - to support each other!

Well around here We have to plan things out, lean on each other for support but we will all make it through. The JUNE BUGS are going to win.??

Thank you for your suggestions. I really like your idea of going to shakes now. Great list of foods.

My husband and I just had a talk tonight because this was a BIG concern for me. He is actually the better cook in the house, but he doesn't cook low fat. He said he would cook for he and the kids (16 and 13 years old) and I'll take care of myself.

That's a huge weight off my shoulder.

That's awesome Annie!! So glad that your husband is being super supportive, and like you said that's a big weight off your shoulders, especially when you're int he recovery phase.

The shakes are ok, and they're kinda gross so I'm just trying to adjust. Good luck!!

Yes! Second week of June and I cannot wait. I am looking forward to a new, thinner life.

Going to be a good month for all of you???
Congrats Jenpa!! Are you excited? The countdown is on, and hopefully the month of May flies by! Are you stocking up for your liquid diet?

Actually super nervous!!! I haven’t really bought anything... on the 24th I meet with doc& pa they will give me all my instructions & I will go get everything!!! It just seems so close & yet so far... I guess just really nervous about the actual surgery & few weeks after.., hoping for a quick recovery as everyone here!!! Thanks for asking!! Hope all goes well for you:)

I meet with mine on the 21st to do a second pre-op physical, redo blood work, and then go over my medications as to what to stop and what I can take post-op. It'll be here before we know it! I feel like a weirdo, because I'm not nervous at all. I'm just ready to do it.
