Period from hell...

Recommended Posts

Well before surgery I have been going through menopause for the last 3 yrs. Last period over 9 months ago. Well after having surgery 2 weeks ago the curse is back with a big pow! Cramps and doubled over... my questions is it safe to use a heating pad and laying on my stomach (if I am able to)? That was the only way I was able to get relief from my period before. Now a new count down till I reach complete menopause.

I'm not sure if the crazy period is normal but for the first 8 months after my gastric bypass I had periods from hell too and I would get them every other week and sometimes super plus tampons would slip out the second I put it in. I was hating life. I thought I was going through menopause but dr said no. Now I'm 15 months out and I get my period like normal. As far as the heating pad and laying on your stomach it's safe as long as you can bare it. I wasn't able to sleep on my stomach for the first 3 months after surgery. That's my story goodluck!

I saw my ob gyn and I am going through the early stages of menopause. I thought my period after having kids was bad. I laid on my stomach for a little bit but I have to find my heating pad. Maybe it will help with the pain of my period. Not having any pain from surgery, I just want to scratch... healing process so I don’t. Thank you for your story.

for a heating pad, use a cherry stone pillow, the stones in the pillow act like a massage on the stomach that increases the blood flow that would decrease cramps.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
