My sleeve is scheduled for 5/7! So excited and nervous! I’ve been a longtime lurker on this site and now that I’ve got my date it doesn’t feel real!

Congratulations! My surgery is 5/23. It's exciting and nerve wracking all in 1 but I'm getting more excited now. Yay May surgery buddy :-)

  • 5/11 over here! I'm so ready and nervous at the same time. Just keep telling myself I'll feel so much better in 6 months. I'd rather deal with some stomach discomfort than heave ho this fat through li

Going in Wednesday May 30.Super scared of the aftermath pain and being away from my son a night or two (hes 4 and we never been apart). My dr was nice and wrote me a rx for a few xanax to get me through til then but I cant even sleep..

How is the pain compared to gallbladder removal or a c-section?

I found the pain easier than when recovering from emergency c-section. Ask for nausea medication before the surgery if you are prone to nausea, and keep up pain medicine post op as you don't want pain sneaking up on you and making walking and drinking sips of water difficult.

Is anyone feeling like this I had my surgery on May 19th but I’m feeling so hungry this week

If you are still only on liquids then hunger is quite common. Liquids don't tend to give you a "full" feeling and go through your stomach and system pretty quickly. You'll probably feel a lot less hungry once you start purees and soft solids. Make sure you keep up your water and vitamins, and focus on getting plenty of protein in in the meantime.

@taoz thank you so much ..I’m really try but it’s so hard ...I could only drink one protein bottle I can’t drink the 2 but I’m drinking water no more then 3 or 4 sip every 15 min because I get full with 3 4 sip

You can look into Torani sugar free syrups to add to your RTD Protein Drinks. It will help.

Thanks

Yes, sleeved 5/23 excited for whats to come...i just want cheese

Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal App

hehe, I love cheese too :) I had some melted colby cheese on steamed broccoli this afternoon :) eating gets so much better once you can have soft solids with actual texture again (even if it is in very small amounts initially).

One of my soups had some cheese in it though, cauliflower and sharp cheddar soup :)

Not even comparable and I've had both. Gallbladder surgery made me nauseous on the way home from the hospital. But I did just fine with my C-sections. This is nothing compared to C-section recovery, which is way, way worse in my opinion. You've got this!

I'm now 4 weeks post op and officially able to move on from "puree and soft foods" to "regular foods transition". WOOHOO!!! I've also over the past few days progressed down from the dreaded "week 3 stall" :) weighing 102.5kg this morning (can't wait to fall under the 100kg mark!)

I did already have some soft-cooked steak the other night (cooked medium rare sous-vide for 3 hours, so it was softer textured than how most people cook their chicken, I would strongly recommend against trying regular (chewy) cooked steak for a good while yet!).

Today I picked up some of the ALDI very low carb bread and am considering trying a toasted piece of that with a soft-yolked poached egg (I can't eat hard-cooked yolks, the taste and texture make me gag really badly, so it's either poached with a runny yolk on some toast or scrambled eggs only).

Good luck to those having their surgery in the last few days of May, and I hope those with earlier May dates are recovering and progressing really well :)

@taoz I’m happy for you ...I’m struggling so much today is my 10th day going out for dinner with the family and I’m just going to order a tomato soup or some kind of soup I can’t wait to start eating something different I’m so tired of liquids I’m wondering if I could have any mash potatoes...did you have any ??

Thanks Controvento.

Yes, soup would be a good option if your are going out to eat in the first 2 weeks post op. Beware that tomato soup can be quite acidic so if you are prone to reflux so far perhaps look for a non-tomato based soup.

I had a little pumpkin and potato mash during my liquid phase when it was part of a dinner I made for mother-in-law and sister-in-law, but I thinned it out with milk to quite a runny consistency first, and it wasn't that great (though at least something "different")

I’m happy for you!

My program won’t let me have beef for 6 months! But going to soft foods from liquids will be very welcome!

I was May 22, doing well. First post op appt yesterday.... down 17lbs from my pre-op visit May 1st! I was so shocked!

Surgery was May 17th, at 2.5-3 weeks post-op I hit my first stall! Thank goodness I measured myself so I don't have to rely strictly on the scale (lost 5 1/2 inches). It's still frustrating though, but I am doing everything right so I just have to push through the stall. I also started taking a stool softener, hopefully it helps. My BM's have been infrequent and too big to pass easily when they do come. Anyone else hit a stall yet?

Surgery was May 30th. The pain is easing up but I'm still tired and hungry. My jaws thank me for giving them a break. LOL.

A month tomorrow, it's been an interesting month. Definitely harder than I anticipated and have really started to appreciate just how much my social life revolves around food. Struggling to get down anymore than 2-3 bites of basically anything at this stage before feeling really full, so trying to stick more to fluids (protein shakes and soups etc) have definitely had quite a few moments of regret, but trying to get my head around the fact that they are mostly related to the things I know I now won't be able to do, which are mostly things I shouldn't do anyway (like sitting down to a huge burger, fries and coke) Happy with the weight loss progress, I have lost a total of 16kg (35 pounds) since surgery and a total of 32.6 (71.8 pounds) since I started my weight loss journey back in January this year.
