There's no physical reason why you can't eat them.....but they're a dreadful food choice.

If it's something you want to take a couple of bites of once in a blue moon, you might find a way to work it into a healthy day's eating.

If you think you're going to want to eat full servings of them, or will have problems stopping after just a couple of bites...you might want to reconsider reintroducing them.

Refined high glycemic carbs will cause sugar spikes, insulin spikes, and this triggers rebound hunger. They're also not nutritionally dense....not much Fiber, not a lot of nutrients.

They're kinda like a candy bar. Pretty empty.

A couple of bites once in a while....wouldn't be world ending....but if it's a temptation that is more of a hassle to avoid overindulging in.... than something you can enjoy in moderation...maybe skip it?

Best wishes either way you go:)

I’m 3.5 months out and had a mini muffin this morning for the first time in as long as I can remember. Had no issues but regretted making the bad choice almost immediately after. But live and learn!

I don't tolerate any kind of cake or muffin very well. It just feels weird going down and the sugar makes me sick. A very small bite or two will remind me I really don't want it I just think I do. It does get easier. The only thing I really crave anymore that I can't have is soda. I am a year out and I really want a soda so I don't dare take a single sip.

Processed carbs and baked goods make me feel sick and just horrible. I don’t eat them. However, I love the smell. I get pleasure out of the smell of those foods and don’t wish to eat them any more. They really make me FEEL so bad. I love that. It’s like what if there was a chocolate cake that looked lovely but had been made with rotted butter or had some bacteria in it, that would make you sick? That is my new mentality now (7 mos past surgery). So I have no desire to eat it and feel sick.

But I like to bake stuff and smell it or smell it in bakeries or when a family member has it. I do NOT want it in my mouth, just the smell. Which is very satisfying, though it would not have been before surgery. Now it’s like the smell is its own reward. Weird I know.

I have had muffins and I get dumping syndrome every time. It is one of the few things that gives me dumping syndrome. It doesn't happen right away--about 2 hours later I get a little shaky, lightheaded, and nauseous. I actually feel like I'm going to pass out. I never do of course. It only last about 10-15 minutes but it is a bit weird.

I wish I had never started with a muffin. Once you do, it opens yourself to having them again and again. You would do yourself a HUGE favor if you don't have any. Seriously.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
