Just hoping I’m approved

Recommended Posts

I have a BMI aid 35 and have struggled with weight since I was a child. I can’t drop weight on my own at this point, no matter what I do. I gain and lose the same two pounds. Anyway, Unless the sleep study shows sleep apnea, I have no co-morbidities. I’m grateful to be in such good health, but it does mean I probably won’t be covered and will have to pay out of pocket. No real question here, just putting it out there.

Do you have GERD (heartburn)? That is considered a co-morbidity as well. It may help. I had a moderate form of sleep apnea.

Thanks, no, though. sleep apnea appears to be the only option. My glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol are all fine. Same with my liver. Already had it scanned for fat.

I think that’s fine too. I probably sound like a complete jerk whining about this. Sorry guys. I’m just so sick of living my life this way. I avoid all sorts of social settings because of my weight. It hinders me professionally. I’ve been going to dietitians since grade school. I don’t want my young girls to one day realize just how heavy their mommy is. I want to set a good example for them. It doesn’t make sense to me that I have to wait until I’m really sick before I can do something about this situation.

Sorry. I’m just really frustrated.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
