Hi Elaine.

I’m getting the Loop DS this month. Are you getting the Duodenal Switch?

That is what the surgeon suggest based on my weight....283 and my weight loss goal is 150. I would be fine weighing 170-180, but he asked me what I would ideally like to weight. I see a lot have the sleeve. I have a friends who had G Bypass 9 years ago and has gained some back, Nothing like she was before though. She knows a lot of people who has had WLS due to going to a lot of support groups over the years and she says she wishes she had chosen the DS due to the fact that it seems to be very successful in keeping the weight down. Why did you chose the Loop? I don't know much about that one. It's not listed as a choice on the website or all the paperwork in a big binder they gave me.

I had the loop DS too. Chose the loop over the traditional because I had less than 100lbs to lose.

Hi Elaine!!! I'm Having the traditional Duodenal Switch on February 8th!

I had the duodenal switch surgery done yesterday! Everything went well for me. I woke up in moderate pain and the nurses quickly started giving me pain meds through my IV. I started walking about 4 hours after surgery. Took sips of water and eating jello slowly. I took small sips every 15 minutes or so and reached the intake criteria they wanted me to meet before I could be discharged. I was discharged today. The pain is tolerable and I'm taking my pain meds as needed.
