Im 5 days after surgery and I feel like I need some reassurance that what I'm feeling is normal. I am down 9 pounds as of this morning which I am so happy about but I feel like I am not getting enough Protein and that I'm not doing what I am supposed to be. I have stared to have trouble with my Protein Shakes I have been doing the Premier shakes in a verities of flavor and until yesterday it was all good. But yesterday I got half way through my first one and got so sick diarrhea and nausea it made me feel horrible the first time ever. I tried another flavor this morning and the same thing. I'm just a little sore and I can be up and moving its not bad Im not on any pain pills. But I'm terrified to not get enough protein so tomorrow I am going to pick up the clear premier drinks. I just want to know that I am losing enough weight and healing at a normal rate. This is a little funny note to add but last night I dreamed about eating a cucumber and in my dream it was the most amazing thing I know I just miss food but i just think its funny I want something healthy and not something super yummy and tempting like a pizza or something.

Hi there,

I can relate - I’m 3 days out and I have no idea if I’m getting enough or too much in. I just had an Optifast Soup, which is fine according to my plan, but other plans say it should just be clear broths at this stage. The soup sat best with me than anything I’ve had yet post-op but I can only get tiny sips in, so I don’t know if I’m stopping because of discomfort or because I’m full.

It’s more important to get liquid in at this stage than Protein to stay hydrated so don’t stress about protein.

I guess we just need to listen to our bodies better right now. I went for a walk and it really helped with gas pain.

I wish I could be more help, but I’m in exactly the same boat and don’t know if I’m doing this right.

Stay in contact - we should start a group for December sleevers.

Staying hydrated is very crucial. I switched to clear Protein Drinks, could barely tolerate thick shakes after surgery. I consumed Bone Broth and Isopure ready-made Protein drinks in blue raspberry and punch half and half with crystal light and Water.

Drink lots of other liquids in between and at this stage don't worry much about that 30-60 minute rule between liquids and protein drinks - you will need that rile for more semi-solid/solid foods. The name of the game at this stage is to work toward the 64 Fluid ounces and aim for 60gr of protein.

I am 3 days post -op and I know I am not getting as much fluids in as I am suppose to. However, every day it seems to get better. I eat a little more jello...I can finally eat a whole popsicle and tomorrow I will try Bone Broth. The hospital broth tasted like ramen noodle sauce packets and did not agree with me.

I’m 3 days post op and their goals for me are 64 oz of water/ fluids (shakes count) and 60 to 80g of Protein. I’m getting closer on protein than Water. My friend used to work as a nut in bariatric dept I was sleeved and she said it’s normal not to reach these goals in the first week and not to be too worried about dehydration bc it would be for those woh can’t keep anything down and at that point would recommend Gatorade. I’m in the 50s for protein and 26 for water.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
