Yes sugar free only but I agree that most sugar free tastes awful so instead of vanilla flavored yogurt, I prefer plain. I'm not taking much foods. Just limited to yogurt, cream of wheat or strained / purred Soups but not chicken Soup more like broth type. It's a challenge to get requirements in so I'm sticking to 2 Protein Shakes and yogurt at this point. I will be able to move on to soft purred foods in 3 days so that will be great (I hope!) Looking forward to cottage cheese and soft foods like fish. I think it will be a huge improvement to go down to one shake a day.

I feel better today. Still have that odd feeling inside (probably gas and like things aren't quite right in there.) I'm not having pain but discomfort. Def hard to sleep past 6 hours because I'm uncomfortable in bed. Haven't gone to the bathroom yet so going to pick up milk of mag. I'm taking stool softner but burns my throat so going to pick up solace today. I have flax seed but forgot to use it. Not sure when I should start to worry but I did a 2 liquid fast so haven't gone since last Monday which was my last meal. I didn't have reflux before and fortunately don't feel it now. I'm taking prilosec to prevent it.

im finding it almost impossible to find sugar-free yogurt (i will skip the plain) . i found one brand at one store, it has 4grams of sugar, comes in a bunch of flavors, i think its called carbmaster but im confused why there isnt any other options at the many stores ive been in.

Oh, and my cat being a yogurt fiend, knows im eating yogurt but after one lick, she knew this wasnt the good yogurt so she constantly comes up to sniff it and walks away in a huff. even cats dont like sugar free stuff. lol

as far as going to the bathroom, i had my last meal (chicken wings) the sunday before my wed surgery. so was on only liquids for 2 days, then of course only liquid the first week after. i was scared for when i would be "ready" to go but whew luckily it came maybe the sunday after. i hope you find relief in the otc meds .

ive been eating cottage cheese since nov 22. was so happy to eat something of substance. it doesnt necessarily stay down when i eat it but its better than Protein Shakes .

try to puree chicken breast when youre able to eat soft foods. its surprisingly good. ive mixed one spoonful of the chicken with one spoonful of instant potatoes. it tastes like a normal meal.

I'm actually only supposed to have plain. I was recommended by another sleever Dannon Oikos Triple Zero. It only has 4g of sugar. I think it tastes horrible right now but I think everything sweet tastes bad right now. Even my plain greek yogurt has 6g of sugar and it was approved to eat. I used to love Chobani Simply 100 but I think they may have taken it off the market. I don't see it and isn't online either.

The first two months will be the most trying of the process. Moving through the stages of the diet advancement and learning how to live with your new stomach is hard but it gets easier day by day and as the weight starts dropping off it become more and more rewarding. Almost a year post op and I have zero regrets. All the discomfort and pain in the beginning was worth it.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
