Just banded yesterday 10/19

Recommended Posts

Was banded yesterday at 12:30 pm and home by 7pm. All in all, not nearly as painful as expected. More sore than anything - and the gas pains started right away. That was worse than the incisions!

Hate sleeping on my back! Hardest part is actually keeping my cats from laying on my stomach. All in all - going well!

I hear ya. I had to fend off three chihuahuas in bed. Now I just try to keep them from tromping around on my port. Whenever I am laying on the couch or in bed my hand comes up automatically to cover the area over my port because to my dogs I am just another lane in their highway of life....hahahaha

Yes - I've had to fend off 4 cats. I can't sleep on my back anyway and just end up napping sitting up on the couch. I was banded Wednesday - they say day 3 is the roughest - if that's today, I agree. I feel weak, light headed, dizzy, and am struggling putting anything down. I live alone, so I'm not getting motivation from anyone. I know I need to motivate myself, but it's not easy when you feel blah.:sick

I'm totally new - have only attended the seminar and turned in my paperwork. Insurance said ok - I guess I just sit back and wait. I just wanted to let you know I am reading and hopefully learning from your posts. I wish you all the success I am hoping to have!

Thanks,

Penny

Hi

I am so glad I found this site ! I am in month 3 of visiting my doctor for 6 monthly vistis so my insurance will say o.k. I am hoping to have my band in Jan/early Feb. I was honestly starting to chicken out in my mind until I found this site. Now I have little to no doubt, this is for me !

Thank you all for sharing !!

I have a question, anyone with kids--what do you tell them about the surgery & band? how about all the food changes (shakes, mushies). I have a 4 year old DD and am working so hard not to pass on my food issues. She makes me so proud with her food choices -her fav's are salads and fruits! Yesterday she had an apple, rice cakes and a Tomato for Breakfast, I skipped breakfast and had fast food while she was at school.

I am hoping she wont remember the eating disorder overweight mom, only the healthy mom who can take her on bike rides and walks.

Any one have any advice or experiences?

Thanks,

Rowan

My boys are a little older and I have not said anything to them. I think kids watch what we do more than they listen to what we say:) My youngest is sixteen and makes great food choices and is very active. Nothing like me. I am not sure how I will address this when I actually have th eprocedure in 9 days. They have noticed different food in the house but mom is always on some kind of diet. My baby graduations from HS in June 2009 and I want to be in the best health and look fabulous at his graduation. One thing I do know is our kids love us and will be proud of the choices we made to be healthier and live longer!

Keep plenty of liquids coming in and get the Protein you can. That will keep you from feeling nauseus, weak, etc. When you don't get the liquids and the Proteins you will feel really crappy really quick. Check out some clear Protein Drinks by Isopure. 40 grams per bottle, 160 calories, gets both the liquid and protein down and does not taste bad!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
