Just left my consult with my Surgeon!

Recommended Posts

I just left my consult with my surgeon and wow I feel great. I feel so full of hope. He doesn’t think my insurance will mandate a 6 month supervised diet, and since I am a law student he is on board with me hopefully getting it over winter break. Next step is to wait for the insurance coordinator to get an explanation of benefits and then she will call me and we can start scheduling appointments.

I am so hopefully and excited. I will be getting the sleeve and I am ready for this positive life change.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, hopefully, you get the approval before the end of the year. I can tell you that even if the insurance does not cover you find a way to beg, borrow, or well you don't want that on your record but you get the idea. Like your future degree, it will impact your life for the good. I found I have more energy my short-term memory is back and that I have so much energy, did I mention the energy part.

Here is a saying for your future profession, that might put it into perspective.

My lawyer once told me that I can pay him now or pay him later and usually later is much more expensive.

I waited until my late 40's to have surgery and I can tell you my weight has taken so much from me and my family, I should have paid the piper 20 years ago because the cost of waiting this long has been astronomical.

Good Luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
