I did for the first several weeks. You just had major surgery. It will pass.

I found the surgery took a lot out of me as well. Even if I felt good afterwards I had very little energy. I think my body was trying to recover. I was able to work in the yard over the weekend and each day seems to be getting better.

Anesthesia can make you feel like crap for up to 4 weeks. Also, try to remember you body is healing. I felt like crap for 8 weeks after my c-section. I was tired for a good month or six weeks after my surgery. It will pass.

This was my biggest complaint after surgery. It slowly got better and by 7-8 weeks it was completely gone. I took lots of naps! It will go away so just do what your body is telling you.

Yes. Very very low energy. Not able to participate in life much for the first month . In the second month day by day it got better. After 6 weeks I started a beginning exercise program. Thereafter, slowly I recovered to full strength and then some. You had major surgery. You don’t get enough Protein at first. Give yourself permission to recover. I was scared I’d be like that forever, but I have more energy now 3 months out than I did before surgery.so will you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
