I broke down and got secondary insurance.

Recommended Posts

Today I called and inquired about secondary insurance with first health conventey. I've read good things about the insurance and I'm hoping that'll get be back on track for coverage in addition to the health insurance provided with my husbands work. Anyone have similar situations?

Mine and my husbands both exclude as well. I have wanted to find one that does. I have 49 BMI. sleep apnea and high blood pressure and cholesterol so I would be approve on a plan that offers it. I would quit my job and work somewhere that offers it with their plan but it's hard to find out till you are already hired. Is this secondary expensive? I found the Dr I want in Mexico but it would be good to have a back up incase if issues.

I've gotten conflicting reports. Called one person who said if it was medically necessary they would cover it. The second one said it excludes it but will cover $1000 towards any inpatient surgery, 25% off anesthesia within their network, percentage off a surgeon in their network etc. it becomes active October 1, so I'll find out for sure next week. I'm so anxious.

only a few more days. It's so hard when you don't get a direct answer and have to wait and see. Fingers crossed for you.

Hope it works out for you! My
Husbands insurance didn't cover it, so I paid to get insurance through my employer, because it did after I had the insurance for one year. Now my husbands insurance covers it as well! lol

It is an exclusion on my plan and I think it is also on my husband's. I too am looking into secondary insurance but I would have to get an individual plan. Is that what you did?

I was on my husbands family plan when I started a new job. When I found out the plan they had their covered it after a year, I chose to purchase my own individual insurance through my job, making my husbands become my secondary.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
