Help!! Food demons and I'm barely 2 weeks post op!!

Recommended Posts

Last night I took my kids to a birthday party. The spread she had was insane-make your own sandwiches and tons of amazing salads and fruit, dips and veggies and then she has 10 pizzas delivered and the good kind too, no cardboard delivery, the uber delicious kind. I'll be two weeks on Monday, haven't even graduated to purees yet and the only reason I didn't take a bite of something is because I physically can't because of healing. I left the party. I couldn't take it. Am I hungry? Possibly bc I'm living on liquids. I went home, had my fat free Greek yogurt with Monk Fruit sweetener and was absolutely full, couldn't even finish the yogurt. I am freaking out bc what happens when I am all healed and can take a bite? Will I be satisfied if I have a piece of cheese and a couple veggies at a party like this? Omg-it was so bad last night and I am terrified I am going to fail. Any words of wisdom? I think I'm going to pursue hypnotherapy.

You did very well and showed a lot of willpower. More than you think. Give yourself credit for that first of all. Secondly, even though you're on puree doesn't mean you couldn't take a bite, it just means you resisted taking a bite. Some people screw up because they would have taken a bite no matter what part of the phase they were on.

Lastly, if you think you're going to fail, you will. If you think you're going to succeed, you will. Don't let your mind play tricks on you. If you don't think your mind will be strong enough, go talk to a therapist about why that is and work it out. You'll feel stronger and more in control. Hope this helps. Good luck and keep your goal in focus, not your past.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
