Desperately seeking a mentor/buddy

Hi, I'm a week out from surgery and confused as hell! If anyone is able to help me and lead me in the right direction I'd be eternally grateful

I had my surgery in Belgium and live in the U.K. So I'm finding it hard to navigate when/what/how regarding intake and was never given any advice about daily Protein targets...

Any advice or support very welcome!

Thx

Oh my goodness. I had my bypass done on the 20th of July. I am 2 weeks out as of today. I went to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and had mine done. I can share with you what I have been shown. My Dr still has me on a full liquid diet. Your body needs time to heal. So let it rest and heal. Don't lift more then 5 lbs. The inside will take lo her to heal then the outside. Protein target should be a minimum of 60 grams and Fluid total including Protein Shakes, Water down Apple juice, or sugar free frozen ice, should be 64 ounces, (8 glasses) dehydration is the main reason people are re-admitted. Also by now you should be chewing 2 children's Vitamins. Iron supplement and Calcium. Here is a copy of my book1501746374072.jpeg 1501746437895.jpeg 1501746464428.jpeg 1501746485336.jpeg 1501746528093.jpeg 1501746565543.jpeg

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
