Weight gain after 1 week post op

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I was sleeved on 5/16, and I lost 10 lbs in the first 10 days, and since I started purees I have stopped losing weight and actually have gained 3 lbs. I know they say you can stall at week 2 or 3, but this is so beyond frustrating.

How in the world have I GAINED weight? I haven't eaten more than 800 calories in a day.

I know I just need to keep at it, it is just so upsetting that I went through all of this and I'm not getting any results. (Not losing inches either, I checked).

Honestly, I would stay off of the scale for the entire first month. Nothing is going to be accurate because your body is desperately trying to heal. Just stick to your plan, walk, and meet your Protein and Water goals each day and eventually, the weight will come off.

I could've written this post because the EXACT same thing is happening to me. I was sleeved 5/16. I gained three pounds one week and I have no reason why. I lost those three pounds after a week. However I've only lost 1 pound since surgery. I feel your frustration.

Sleeved on the 15th of May. I don't weigh myself so I don't have any frustrations. I'd encourage y'all to do as @blizair09 mentioned above.

Tomorrow will be my first weigh at my two week post op. I just tried on a blouse I love and it was big. No matter what the scale says I know things are changing. I've had such peace of mind not weighing and obsessing over the numbers. I'm just doing what they told me.

I was sleeved on 5/3 and I stalled on week 2 and 3. It was beyond frustrating so I know what you mean. If you get your Protein and Water in and walk it will start to come off. The body is trying to heal and it's going through a change. It's trying to keep the fat.... I wasn't eating enough and I was doing too much exercise.... I am only doing walks and getting everything else is and my body is starting to realize this is the new normal and it's okay. You will get there! Keep doing what your supposed to and you will be seeing progress in no time!

I got sleeved 5/15/2017, I'm going through a stall after losing weight very quickly (from 283 to 245) and I think I'm going to put the scale away for a while because it's frustrating...but we all have to keep focused and keep on keeping on!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
