I meet with my nutritionist and GP for the first time next week. From there the gp will order necessary bloodwork. My question is, whats next? Im so excited and nervous for this journey. I have bcbs of Michigan health insurance, plus medicaid. Im sure there is a 6 month wait?? Any info on what will take place from here on out would be most appreciated. Also, I am 5ft tall and 250 lbs. Any of you similar? If so, can you give me kind of your benchmark goals that youve reached?? Before and after pics? Good luck, God bless, and thank you.

Check your specific insurance plan to see what the exact requirements are. They worst thing would be missing a piece of the puzzle and not finding out until you were close to surgery. I had bcbs anthem and I had a year wait.
They gave me a booklet with what to expect and what the process would be like. Hopefully they will do the same for you. Best wishes!

It really depends on your plan what kind of wait you will have...Some plans require no wait, some 3 months, some 6 months. The only one who can tell you what the requirements are is your insurance company.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
