Hi all,

I'm from Thibodaux and my Dr. is Eric Rau from houma. I am so disappointed, I was banded 9/5/07 and only lost 20lbs. That's got to be the lowest number I've seen yet!! I 'm eating the right foods but still haven't got my sweet spot. But the dr. keep telling me to patient soooooooooooo I am!!!

Hi Redgirl, I am from Raceland. Give it time I just reached my sweet point last month. Weight loss has slowed down but I am getting closer to goal. How many fills have you had. I think I had about 9.

The 23rd is going to be a year, I for sure thought I would have gotten to my goal by now but I am just starting to exercise. I am happy with what I lost, without the help of the band I would still be misrable. The most weight I ever loss on my own was 18 lbs and would gain double everytime.

I've been meaning to make a meeting, but I haven't made one yet. I had my surgery done by Dr. Richardson at Oschner. My insurance paid for it all. I got a .5cc fill today...I'm hoping that helps to kick in my weight loss again. I'll be on liquids for a week so I'm sure I'll lose some weight and I've started exercising every day.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
