My doc originally told me 3 weeks liquids...3 weeks mushies....then progress to solids....today I went for my one week checkup and I have lost 22 lbs ( YIPPEE !!! )...but now he wants me going right from liquids to regular food.....no mushies....not sure I want to...I think I need that progression...not sure what to do ....( I Know...follow my surgeons directions.....but since they are all different that means none of them are right...or wrong.....).....my friend's doc is very strict on the mushie stage....maybe he's right....kinda confused....

Wow, one week then right to solid food? That sounds too quick to me, but I am not a doctor. From everything I have read and been told, the first month is when the band seats itself and that is why we do the easy foods, to keep it from moving too much. Mine was 2 weeks of liquid and mushies, but yesterday was my first day of soft food. I was still kinda nervous, so I took it real easy and still did the shake/soup thing, but added a south beach Breakfast wrap ( half of one) for breakfast.

I ad 1 week liqiuds, lost 17lbs, my doc moved me to mushies. 3 weeks from surgery I started eating eating soft foods. I ate some chicken that was I blended and it was too soon. Your doc gives you info based on how previous patients have responded. You have to respond to what your body can tolerate. I am back to mushies for a few days. I will try again for soft foods in another week. solid food so soon seems a bit risky to me. Check to make sure that was what he meant.

I think I wrote it wrong....he still wants 3 weeks liquids.....but is cutting out the 3 week long mushie stage...I still think I want to progress slowly so that I also do some type of "progression' ...I'm thinking of doing 3 weeks liquids and then 1-2 weeks mushies before trying solids....even though this is less agressive than my docs schedule.....I dont think I can hurt anything by being conservative....do you ?

No, you cannot hurt ANYTHING by being conservative. I was very conservative, I think most docs are starting to move people along faster because so many patients complain and complain about being hungry and despserate to chew. The data about the newer bands seems to speak to less slippage so I think hungry patients plus a little less slippage=faster progression.

Note I said LESS slippage. Not NO slippage. As long there is a chance, even an tiny one, that a slip can occur, I think it's a GOOD idea to go slower.

My diet was 1 week clears with three meal replacement/protein shakes per day, two weeks full liquids (after the first week or so I could add THINNED cream of wheat and RUNNY mashed potatoes). Then two weeks mushy/pureed, then two weeks SOFT (juicy canned chicken, eggs, cooked vegetables, soft fishes, etc).

I APPLAUD you for wanting to go slowly!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
