Aches in back

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new here and have some questions. Was banded in Jan, lost 60 lbs and had only one fill. Things usually go great but occasionally I will mess up with not chewing well enough and about 30 minutes after I eat my back will start aching and I know it means I'm too full. I don't vomit or spit up like I use to at the beginning and I can sip Water so I think something must just be stuck. The pain can last for hours - stomach and back pain sometimes even into the next day. I try drinking slow sips of warm water and that helps. It's definately different than before when I knew when the last bit:help:e should be or I'd spit up. What's this mean?

I am fairly new to the band, I was banded 09/07/07. I, too feel alot of backpain and have decided that I have just eaten way toooo much. I still have had no fill. My first fill will be on October 24. So, I do know what you mean by the backache.

Hey Effie,

Was just lurking on the bb's and saw your post.. I do have backpain today but thought it was just that I may have overexerted myself. However, today was my day to change to "mush" foods (i was banded 9/26) and I did have oatmeal - I did eat about a cup and 1/2. I have not had any fills yet -

Now I'm worried I screwed something up?

Has anyone had back pain explained by a medical profession? Can it be associated with the band?

I do not have any other pain at all.. just the dull ache in my lower back.

Brenda

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
