Motivation

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am almost 2 weeks post op and struggling to even want to do my walking videos. I just have zero motivation at all. Any tricks or tips that made you get up and "Just do it?" I know once I do it daily it will get easier, but geesh its getting started... im just so lazy!!! Lol

With being only 2 weeks, I can't say I was that much better. I went to the gym at 2.5 weeks and could only do the treadmill and cycle and only about 35 minutes. I was use to 1.5-2 hour work out. I was easily exhausted at that point. You seem to gain energy back about 4-6 weeks when you're starting more solid foods. General motivation, though, just remember wls is only a tool. If you don't use the tool (including exercise) you're bound to lose much slower/not reach goal for a long time.

It is hard that soon after surgery. Give yourself credit and keep moving forward.

I like to set up rewards for myself and track my workouts. Like if I meet all my exercise goals for this month, I can get myself a pedicure or new pair or shoes.

You could do a reward for 20, 30 or 45 workouts and then just track it. The reward doesn't have to be big or expensive but it has to be something that you want and won't get yourself unless you reach your goal. It could be makeup, a movie, a book, music, nail polish, scarf, whatever you like and fits in your budget.

I'm a gold star kind of girl though. It helps me keep focused on the long run by breaking it up into smaller goals.

All the best!

Because I experienced some serious complications 5 days out of surgery and had to return to the hospital, my recovery was slowed considerably. My hubby had to drive me to all appointments and I went with him whenever he had to run an errand for us (I wasn't cleared for driving for a few weeks following 2nd discharge), so I considered every trip to the store a physical activity; each trip was exhausting for me, but every step I took in a store (using a buggy for support) and, every PT appointment to build-up my strength counted. Give yourself time to heal completely before returning to your pre-surgery normal workout. Everybody's recovery is a little different. As another BP member suggested - check in with your Dr. for his recommendation, esp. about the hot yoga.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
