Okay so this may sound crazy but i am 9 days post op. I went into surgery expecting regularly incisions, and when i woke up i only had one through my belly which i was confused as well as ecstatic! But i dont know if this is healing correctly or if its scabbing right or if is infection (no puss no ooze, just very hard scabs which causes pain when i sit down) i was just wondering if anyone has had a single incision through the navel and if so, is this normal?

I had a single incision on 01/09/17 through my bellybutton as well! Though, I didn't experience any pain whatsoever on or around my incision. Here's a picture of what my incision looked like post surgery. You can barely tell, lol. So I'm not surprised I didn't feel any pain. That skinny black line at the bottoms of my bellybutton, is the incision. Oh! & I didn't experience scanning! But everyone is different. I only experienced flaking glue that fell off on its own.post-309185-14863141112497_thumb.jpg

Thank you! I will talk to my doctor and see why the scabbing is causing me pain. Wish you luck on your journey

I had pain at my primary incision site due to internal stitch healing, I bet your doctor will say this is very normal 9 days is a short time

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
