Hi, bandster from down under

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Sharon. Ive been banded for one year & started at 230 pounds & am now 148! I love my band so much!

I have been lurking for awhile & you are a fantastic group of guys here!

My fill was rescently made looser because it was so tight that I was getting sick from not eatting enough healthy stuff. I really miss my tight fill as it made loosing weight super easy. Now I am finding it hard!

My doc was Professor O`Brien, one of the band pioneers. Hes so cool about stuff. We dont seem to have to do as much as other doctors make their patients OS. eg we dont have to go on liquids after or before a fill, and I didnt have to go on clear fluids after the band....infact anything that could go up a straw was fine by him.

Im married with 3 kids & work as an accountant.

Hope to get to know you all better , Sharon

Hi, Curly! Great job! I have an unfill right now. Let's hope everything settles back down for us. I hope I can do as good as you have!

Welcome, Sharon! There are a couple of other down-under bandsters on the board, and it's always good for us Yanks to get a different perspective. Congratulations on your great success. How much more were you hoping to lose? Any tips you'd like to share?

Hi Curly,

We have had the same doctor, his great, I had the operation two years ago, everything went well and its comfortable, but I try too much to eat and I have had Fluid taken out so I can eat healthier but I am now eating too much and drink heaps of Water when I know I shoudn't.

I had it done at The Avenue and go once a month and see Anna for a fill, I must admit I haven't been for three months.

Hope to catch up with you.

Hiya Sharon, you've done brilliantly well done, can you tell me if you had weeks when you stayed the same, did you ever think to yourself this isn't working I have such problems with self doubt at times and I just wondered if someone as sucessful as you felt the same.

Helenxx.

Hi Sharon,

I've just joined the group tonight and then I spotted you. You can read my history in the other message I sent if you're interested.

I'm having my surgery on Friday and my heart is pounding just thinking about it.

Congrats on your success.

Take care, Rachel.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
