Hi all

. This is my first post on this site and hopefully not my last. My Bariatric sleeve Surgery is Wednesday so I'm a little anxious but not yet nervous. I'm considering it the first day of my transformation. I started at 281 lost 21 lbs on my program so far. Looking forward to a successful transition. The only thing that scares me is the hernia surgery.

Has anyone had any problems with it after surgery? If so how have u handled it?

Way to go on the weight loss so far. I had my surgery on December 13th and am doing well. I didn't know I had a hernia until after my surgery when the surgeon told he had repaired it. I have had no problems other than some incisional pain, but not enough to take pain meds since I've been home from the hospital. Just do everything they tell you to do and you will be fine!

I'm going in Wednesday as well...I didn't really start getting anxious until a few days ago and now I can't stay off this app bc I'm trying to get an idea of what to expect..I've been freaking out about getting everything ready for Christmas done before Wednesday, getting the house clean, wondering what I'm gonna eat when I get home from the hospital...they need to put patients on nerve pills at least 3 days before surgery...lol

I'm Wednesday too. Also nervous and obsessively reading the boards. I could have written your post! I have three kids and scared I'm going to be too tired/sick to enjoy Christmas. Also of course worried about something going wrong with surgery or post-op. I could use some of those sedatives right about now!

I will be sleeved on Tuesday and I could have written Mimiof3's post as well. I have an adult child and a pre-teen child. I'm freaking out about getting things ready for Christmas, wrapping things and hoping everything goes well. I haven't been sleeping because I'm so anxious but I know all will work out. I just need to put it all in God's hands. I could definitely use some of the nerve pills...at least it would be something solid in my tummy! LOL Good luck to all of us and let's all meet up on the losers bench and have a laugh about our pre-op anxiousness!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
