My surgeon said to start taking Biotin on my 11th post op diet day. I'm not exactly sure how much to take. Anyone else taking biotin? How much?

I don't have the bottle in front of me, but I just got the generic Biotin at BJs locally and started taking it 6 weeks pre-op. I'm three months post-op and have had zero hair loss. HTH!

I take 50,000 mg a day. Im 7 months post op. However I suffered through a terrible hair loss stage at about 4 months post op and it last until about 6months post op.. I noticed a huge difference when i changed the Biotin i took and the amount. The doc recommended a very high potent Biotin and a told me start at 80,000 and work my way down to 50,000 as i regain my hair.. its worked wonders. I buy "sports research" Biotin from Amazon. Hope this helps!!

I took 5000mgs of Biotin religiously for 6 months with very strong nails and no change in hair results. I have stopped taking them in the last two months and have started taking two materna Multivitamin pills in a day. My hair is still falling but I have a ton of baby hair growing in my head which is pretty exciting.

If my surgeon told me to take biotin* I would ask him for a citation to a published, peer-reviewed study showing that it had any impact on Hair loss post-wls before I decided how much to take.

*he didn't, he basically said it was a money pit for people who want to feel like they have some hope of preventing hair loss and that I shouldn't waste my money.

. Unrelated to my surgery I took Biotin, horsetail and nettle to grow my hair out several years ago and it worked wonders. I learned about it on a board like this one that was dedicated to growing hair long. I'm my experience it works quite well ( as do other products and supplements) but you have to take around double what most people take.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
