Never used a binder for WLS post op. Alot of folks used them post plastics to aid with swelling and pain.

I was sleeved November 7th my hospital did have binders and I requested one but once it was time to go home I was so excited to leave I completely forgot to follow up on that. I ended up going to a medical supply store and picking one up. I felt it made me feel better holding the incisions taught during physical activity. I still wear it when I remember to because I feel it improves my posture while I'm out and about. Just ask the staff on your pre op visit when they do your blood work and what not and they will give you the answer. I believe most hospitals have them on deck.

I actually woke up from surgery with one on. Highly recommend it. Without it I felt like my stomach was dragging on the floor. The added pressure helped me a lot. If your surgeon can't provide one I would def go out and get one.

My surgeon puts them on all bariatric patients when the surgery is over so we wake up with them. He said to keep mine on for a month. It actually feels really good... when I take it off for a while I can feel my incisions painfully or uncomfortably rubbing up against stuff. With the binder on I feel nothing at all.

No one even mentioned one during my program, so I had no idea until I was browsing here post surgery. I bought one off Amazon and it has been so nice.

GET ONE!!! IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE FOR ME POST OP!! My Doctor advised me to get one and as soon as he visited me bedside after the surgery, I asked him "when Can i put my binder on" and he said "NOW".. as mentioned it helps with your posture and hold everything in nice and tight and you feel you can manage.. I wore it for a month!! Loved it!!

I used one for 3 weeks. Our bed is low to the ground and I wouldn't have been able to sit up and get out of it without abdominal support. It help with pain immediately and I was off pain meds by post op day five.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
