I totally feel you. If I poop once a week it's a good day.

Once a week?? You poor thing. I go every 2nd day & even that gets uncomfortable. Lately I've drastically increased my Water intake & sometimes go daily. Sad how happy that makes me haha

@sallo...tips for going often? Surgery is late December, but not going is a side effect I'd like to avoid. Must be hard with all Protein we need.

Heya, not sure I can help much because I seem blocked up most of the time & my bowel movements are extremely foul smelling. My surgeon said it could be because of undigested fat (I had RNY). I stopped adding fibre to my food as it seemed to make it worse. Now I try to drink at least 70oz a day & take Coloxyl & Senna. All the best for your upcoming op.

What caused my initial post was the lack of my bowels moving since before surgery which was a week ago. In research after I found out this was normal .... but wasn't aware of it in advance .... truly a relief .... but just do be aware as you approach your date.

I am still not getting enough Water. I try but often forget at work. I think its a side effect of years of edema. Too much water/liquids and my feet swell painfully.

How do you go every other day? I am jealous.

You had your op May or Oct. Sorry, we do our dates differently in Australia. We do date, then month.

I didn't go close to daily in the beginning. I had RNY beginning of Feb. I was 231 on op day & 156 now. HW 250.

Me? October 5th. Tomorrow I am 7 weeks post op. In a bit of a stall, only 3lbs in the last two weeks. Driving me nuts but I have lost 21 inches.

Yep you. Ohh it wouldn't stress too much about your bum yet. You're still fresh outta the door. I think it's easier when your diet varies & you get more natural fibre.

Yep, stalls suck. Luckily I didn't experience them much. I am now, but Ive lost 92 pounds on a year & probably close to goal (if I actually had a goal weight). I need a Tummy Tuck to get rid of the rest.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
