Help! I am never hungry

Recommended Posts

I was banded on the 6th of Sep. I have not not been hungry at all, I have to make myself eat most of the time. I have been drinking Water, gatorade and sugar free crystal light all throughout the day so I am wonderfing if this is why I am not feeling hungry??? has anyone else had this, I would love some feedback of what I should be doing different or if this is normal for this early in to it.

Thanks!

It took me about 12 weeks to get hungry, I never went through bandster hell. But my appetite did come back eventually.

Dont worry about it, go with it!

12 weeks Wow! So, did you end up getting a fill at 6 weeks or not? I am not sure what to do because I have to go to Mexico to get my fills and I need to book my flight soon, but if I don't need a fill at that point I am not sure what I should do.

No, I got my first fill at about 12 weeks when I could tell I was starting to be able to eat more and get hungry. All the rest of my fills have been when I want them, not to a schedule as such. For the first year I'd see my surgeon six weekly or so and he'd ask me if I wanted one or not, I didnt always elect to have one.

Hi Missy;

I am certain that what you are feeling at this moment is NORMAL.

After surg. there is so much swelling inside and until that subsides, you may have less of an appetite than normal.

Not to worry, it will come back. My Doc recommends 6wks post op until 1st filled. Once I was on solids, Oh my gosh - did my appetite come back. It is what as known as "bandster hell" because you feel great, could (can) eat anything in sight and have NO restriction because you havn't been thru the fill process yet.

and regarding Fills, it is a process... it takes longer than anyone of us wants to wait until we get the restriction that we "paid for".. LOL

Enjoy you non appetite for now, just get in your Protein as recommended by your nutritionist and you'll do fine.

I did not get hungry until about 2 weeks after my surgery. Then one day, i thought I would chew off my leg. It was a miserable day. Then next day, I was able to keep it under control. Thank God above, I was able to go on mushies just a few days later. Count your blessings; but I have a feeling you will feel the hunger pains sooner or later.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
