Any idea how low or how intense one should be in ketosis for?

I bought test strips. I was in ketosis for one week pre-op and I've been in ketosis ever since (sleeved 11/11). Like, really really dark on the test strips.

Is there any danger in this? Should I work on getting out of it? My WLC has not mentioned anything about this topic so I'm not sure what I should be looking for.

Your only job at this point is work hard on the two goals your WLC set for Protein and Water.

As long as your in ketosis you'll be losing, but most WLC don't discuss this early on as most don't discuss calorie goals. I'm sure this will be discuss close to goal weight.

At least that is my thought process.

No ketosis due to diet is not dangerous and is good for weight loss....I agree with the other poster...just focus on your Protein and Fluid goals. You're doing great!!

Like trekker said, just work on Protein and fluids. If ketosis is not part of your WLC program, don't worry about it. You will lose weight whether you are or aren't. They only time I ever used the sticks was back in my failed Atkins diet days. I'm sure I was never in ketosis after my VSG because I was still consuming carbs in the form of milk, juice, Beans, soft fruits and pureed veggies.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
