My pcp won't clear me for surgery that is on the 21st I did my pre-op with him and he said everything was okay. I had a really bad anxiety attack about 3 weeks ago and passed out. We adjusted my meds and he said I was good to go. Now he's saying he won't clear me. I'm meeting with him today. I don't even know what to say to him to explain that I'm really ready for surgery and I'm taking my meds. Ugh. Has anyone death with this before? Surgery is literally 5 days away. He wrote a doctor's note for me for my job to reduce my hours and they couldn't accommodate so I was let go. I'm getting everything under control and don't feel so much anxiety. I am just bawling my eyes out right now. :( help

Your job not accommodating and letting you go after drs documentation soubds illegal and potential ADA lawsuit!!

I'm sure your doctor is just concerned that you are in a good mental state to face major surgery and overwhelming change...

Do you have a therapist or psychiatrist. If so, it might help if your therapist in particular speak with your GP

I signed releases si my gp, surgeon and psych ppl cab talk. My surgeon, even though their psychologist cleared me wanted letters from my psychiatrist and therapist showing tgey supported the surgery and my mental health was stable bc I have bipolar l and PTSD.

They had no problems with this and it cleared the air. I knew I was ready but they have to feel you are ready and when you breakdown, gethispitalizedhospitalized, have difficult dx,etc... they worry..

Loosing your job is a serious stressor too... and the grounds you lost it on sound wrong to me...

Be upfront with your GP, tell him how you feel, tgat your meds are helping and allow him to talk to ur mental health docs...

That can go a long ways

Worse case scenario... your surgery gets delayed....

@@hudjess, I have anxiety to a far lesser degree than most. It arises now and then, not often, with some situations that are stressful so that I'd rather not deal with them. I've known a few people whose anxiety is more constant and deeper, but never have heard of passing out from it. @@Butterflywarrior 's note makes good sense. Your PCP isn't "against" you. I'm comfortable saying that he's concerned that you need a little more time before surgery. Surgery itself can be stressful.

Butterflywarrior's last line is solid. If you're like most BP users, you've had a significant weight problem for quite some time. Sure, you're set, but postponing surgery for a little while won't make much difference.

I understand what you are both saying. But postponing it will mean I will be able to do it next year which I will pay a large sum out of pocket that I can't afford. I'm more than ready and one of the stresses was my job so my doctor wanted me to work part time and I lost my job because of it and I am happy because I haven't had an anxiety attack since, I went to a cardiologist who said its not my heart just anxiety so we changed the doses on my meds and I've been taking that new dose for about 3 weeks and I feel more in control than I ever had. I'm already in my 2 week diet and I'm so close. I don't want it postponed but when I talk to my doctor then I will know.

I had my anxiety meds adjusted in Aug. I've had to wait 3 months to be sure I was stable at new dosage. Tomorrow I have a phone consult with psychologist and am hoping to be cleared for surgery.

I know how anxious you are to get your surgery . I was/am too. But you want to be in a stable mental place. The changes after surgery are going to be a rollercoaster ride, emotionally and psycally. Your PCP is looking out for what is best for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
