I would tell the surgeon what happened as soon as possible.

You are better off telling ur surgeon then waking up from surgery to find out he couldn't operate and closed u back up or for something to go wrong on the operating table. Just remember mind over matter. Gl

^This for sure. Happened to one of the patients in the wing where I was recovering in. Doctor started in and found the liver to large and shut down the surgery.

I would say something to your surgeon ASAP. Aside from the fact the the pre-up diet is a foreshadowing of sorts to show your what life will be like post-op, it's also created for a reason. To reduce your fatty liver, to assist with the transition post-op, to make sure your stomach is 110% empty and ready to go. These are essentially doctors orders!! Call tomorrow morning - that way, if you have to reschedule, you'll get the earliest possible date.

Also, your surgeon will still charge you/your insurance company even if they open you up to discover they can't continue with surgery just the same if they completed the procedure. And you don't want to pay for something that didn't happen!

Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
