Farewell to food tour..Not for the easily tempted

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just got my band date (October 2nd) and I'm trying to avoid or lessen the farewell tour. So here's my question. What food did you or do you think that you would never eat again? I'm not trying to come across like I'm already defeated and will miss those food but I realize that certain thing I will need to stay away from like Kryptonite.

For me, I will miss the delicious Stake and shake milkshakes especially the banana Split, the super high calorie coffee drinks, and the oversized Panera Bagels. :eyebrows:

What's your kryptonite??

Hi there,

Banded 8-16. Eating foods slowly and chewing alot. I am not eating bread, tortillas, rolls, rice or noodles, waffles or pancakes. Ice cream too. I am afraid of the golf ball size yukkie stuff that may come up, afraid of PB'ing too. No soda. I have not been filled yet. When I do eat too much I get a really heavy feeling on top of my chest. Don't like that at all. Cookies, cakes and that sort are a no go to. Trying to be healthy...That's the goal.

I'm in the "waiting to hear from the insurance company" phase. I feel like the pressure of not knowing, and the possibility of my actually being banded has propelled me towards the Farewell to food Tour. I find myself worrying about what I'll NOT be able to eat once I'm banded. I see myself eating those things now because I "won't" be able to eat them later, which isn't helping me lose the 13 pounds required in order to have my surgery.

Today I cleaned out the fridge and the pantry and got rid of everything that I shouldn't be eating. I want to have those 13 pounds off before the insurance company comes back with an approval so I can have my surgery sooner then later.

I'm thankful I found this site as I know it's going to be extremely helpful during my dare to be thin campaign. To all of you, a many thanks for the support and information you share with us everyday.

Erenne

I am in the waiting for insurance phase too. But what I will miss the most is french fries.

The thing I will miss the least is the fat clothes

Before I started my liquid stage last Thursday I filled up on fries and bread...my two weaknesses. I have heard that many people have issues with eatting bread after being banded. I was on a food fest all summer and was truthfully getting sick from eatting.

Adios to Marinara sauce and Pasta. Pasta you get stuck and cause me to get sick. I've decided you aren't worth it.

Marinara, the high acid of tomatoes is more than my stomach can take. you cause me to experience excruiciating stomach pains. You aren't worth it.

Butter, I love you. Butter you make everything so much tastier but butter, you give me horrid indigestion and you are not worth it.

Frosting from Publix, we've had some great parties but you now give me an intense headache and make me feel yucky all over. I need to say goodbye to you but thanks for the memories.

Sicilian deep dish, you know you are my most favorite pizza but with the sauce, the thick crust, it detonates my stomach to eat you. I suffer for days even trying small bites so goodbye deep dish.

Hello lightweight stomach. You feel so much easier to carry. Welcome home.

I'm afraid I won't be able to eat popcorn. I will really miss it....

Actually, popcorn goes down too smoothly for MANY. I know I can eat LOADS of it. So I stay away from it for the most part. I have had it twice since surgery and boy oh boy did it go down smoooooth.

Don't know if that helps or not

You really got my attention with the popcorn. I love popcorn. I think I could live without the bread and Pasta, but there's something about popcorn. Of course, I still have a way to go before I have to worry about it, but you definitely have me thinking.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
