can you feel the band and the port?

Recommended Posts

I have a question: Does anyone know if once you have lost your weight and have a Tummy Tuck as I will--What happens to the port then? Do they move it? Since mounds of skin and fat are taken out?

I just found this forum and love all the info I am learning!

Thanks

The port could be moved but does not have to be. If it is not a low profile port it can be changed to one. My port does show when stand up real straight and really suck it in....and I love it. It is like your knuckles they are there but they don't bother you.

If you've ever felt a pregnant mamma's tummy, and she's told you..."oh, that's a foot", that's what my port feels like. You can't see it, but if you press on my abdomen you can feel it.

No way a band could EVER show!

Thanks, I was just wondering. I have since found a post where a lady showed a picture of herself and pointed out you could see her port through her shirt in the picture and you really could see where the skin bulged out under her shirt. She got a TT and they moved the port to the lower area.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and 4 days post op. My surgeon talked me into the lap band. He does both prodecures, but he based it on my weight loss. I have 100 pounds to lose, so he agreed with me and said that the band would be better.

He didn't try to discourage me only encourage me. I agree with everyone else, time for a new surgeon.

Fran

Andi, You've talked to the director of the wls program about the dr. attitud, I'm sure she'll talk to him. You don't have to love the guy and bond with him, he's just a tool to help you with the start of your wgt. loss.

If it's not convenient/possible for you to change dr. because of your insurance or whatever, go with this dr.

But change your attitude. YOU become the professional one. Have another appt. with him and let him know what you expect.

If you're not comfortable with talking to him about it, then don't talk to him, but do act professional at the next appt.

I thought my dr. and I were going to bond, but it's turned out to be a working relationship that's all. I thought I was supposed to go in a see him every month, but he doesn't care. So be it. This is my fight and my journey.

I'm sure you have plenty of support from other areas of your life, right?

Finally Free

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
