Had my surgery 8/29/2016 so 9 wks out. I feel like I can eat too much now and at a stall in losing. Keep going up and down on the scale 3#. Afraid my pouch is already stretching. I know I've over done it at some meals. Sometimes I get filled quickly other times not. Overall though had an easy surgery and recovery. Glad I did it but often wonder if I should've done the bypass.

You are doing great...give yourself a break. Certain foods fill me up faster that other ones op, depends on if they are high Protein or carby or like Soups....I don't think you are stretching anything. Your weight loss is healthy, just keep going. I was 8/8/16. HW 349 SW 326 CW 275

I had my surgery August 8, and I'm 51 lbs down as on today. Problem is I've been at this weight for 2 weeks now and have actually gone up a lb. I feel like there's no longer any restriction on my eating and am worried that this is the best I'm getting out of it. I'm hungry most of the time and other then a pain in my chest when I'm full I have no other full feeling or even warning that I'm about to be full. I'm feeling very discouraged at this point. Worst part is that no one has even noticed I lost any weight unless I straight up tell them. Feeling like I did all this for nothing.

Thanks Raynbolite! Makes perfect sense it does depend on what I am eating. I guess the fear of failure is always lurking. I just did my kettle bell workout to get motivated ????

51pnds...hello....you're doing great....a 2wks stall is really not unusual. Just keep doing what your doing. It is working...people can stall for a month and them boom, suddenly it changes. As far as no one noticing... sometimes people don't say they notice because they don't know how you'll react. I had surgery on the same day you did and I've lost 55...my dr says I am right on tract...so you are too. Hang in there! Give yourself the credit you deserve!

Thank you for the encouragement. Do you get a full feeling? I find that to be one of the really frustrating things is never feeling full, just going from hungry to pain. Also, the amount I can eat varies a great deal day to day so it doesn't give me any hints when it's about to happen. Just bang, can't even swallow the mouthful I'm chewing.

I had my surgery 8/31 . Had no complications , down 56 pounds and feel great . This month I will be lucky if I lose 10 pounds . I am down 8 with my next weigh in 11/15. Stayed at 230 for almost 3 weeks then dropped 8 pounds over 3 days. And now I am stuck at 221 . So frustrating !!

8/30. Down 34 since day of surgery. Kind of had little stalls here and there in the 2nd month and the loss was much slower. Stuck to the plan and didn't get discouraged. I eat alot of pot roast, turkey, skirt steak, and cheese for my Protein. Now and again I will have a shake since I have a hard time getting more than 40 grams of Protein in from food. My plan has a goal of 60 grams of protein until the end of the 3 month mark, where I should move up to 80. I hit onederland on 10/30.

I think this thread is so interesting- how the surgery affects people so very differently - some people can't eat Hardly anything and are still repulsed by food ( like me and am terrified I will never like food again) and then others who can tolerate anything. It's just seemingly so random. It's so interesting.

Surgery was on 8/27. Hernia surgery created bad neck and shoulder pain but very little discomfort from the sleeve. I got up and moving quickly that day to avoid a second night co-pay. (I'd rather stay at the Ritz for that price!)

Including my two week preop diet and post surgery I've lost 34 lbs. Just struggling to get the walking in or I would lose faster.

The worst part so far for me was the puréed stage. I kept drinking shakes. I wanted FOOD!

My mental adjustments have included learning the feelings that I use to cover with food and finding new coping skills. Being around snack food and alcohol in social situations and being the voyeur.

Overall, now that I'm eating food I'm happy.

I'm wearing some clothes from my "thinner" closet. I'm getting compliments.

I have struggled with Constipation but there are some good ideas here.

Good luck to all!

I feel the same way! My surgeon suggested to start eating a lot slower and maybe I could learn to "listen" to my body better. Psh, yeah right! I hear it all right. I hear it saying FEED ME one second and you'll die if you eat another bite another second. So it's really hard! I have to do something else when I eat now. I can't just sit down for a meal, I have to have an activity to distract me to force myself to eat slower to try to avoid the pain. Any advice would be helpful!

I have also completely failed at the no drinking while eating rule and I don't know how much that plays a role. I'm pretty good about holding off on drinking while eating and afterwards it's the 30 min before I eat part that's impossible. I have very varied mealtimes, nothing even resembling a schedule so most of the time I don't know I'm going to be eating in 30 min to stop drinking.

I'm also thirst most of the time so the idea of having to not drink for the time before during and after each meal only caused me to skip the meals instead of give up the drink.

I will also be the first to say that my erratic schedule and lack of scheduled meal times has been the biggest obstacle facing me and was probably one of the main contributors to my gain in the first place.

Unfortunately, awareness has not translated into the actions needed to correct this problem and frankly I'm clueless on how to go about changing that. I

have no regular schedule and other that naming the first meal I eat upon waking Breakfast, this meal is often the 1 others are calling dinner.

How long are you supposed to go between meals?

If you are awake for longer then the average 16 hours per 24 hour period, should another meal be added in?

I had mine on Aug 23rd. I'm guessing i'm down about 40lbs. I have been blessed to have had an extremely EASY recovery. I'm pretty much back to eating normal foods, no issues with keeping solids down, although last night i ate and then chugged about a 1/4 cup of my Water and THAT was NOT good. lesson learned BIG TIME. I felt sick to my stomach and ended up puking a bit...now i get what people mean by the "slime". rest assured THAT will never happen AGAIN. gross. The thing that i struggle most with is eating slow. I come from a long line of lightning fast eaters, and for me, that is probably the hardest habit that i'm having trouble breaking.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
