Nerve wrecking sleever [emoji85]

Hello all,

I decided to finally join this app, as it has been helpful pre-op and now post-op VSG surgery.

I had surgery Wednesday September 28th and I'm on day 3 today.

I've experienced drinking too fast and I also feel like sipping is just as hard for just Water.

Did anyone else have a hard time intaking liquids after surgery?

I had my surgery Wednesday as well. My surgeon considers Day #1 to be the first day you wake up in your own bed, so that is today for me. I have been sipping Water all morning. I aim for 4 oz per hour and I use a small cup with exactly that amount. So far, it's not too bad. (I just have to be careful not to take too much in at once.) I'll have some Jello and broth later and we'll see how that goes. I am not nearly as uncomfortable today as I was yesterday (but some of that is thanks to the pain pills).

I get to add in unflavored Protein powder tomorrow until day 6. On day 7, I can start with Protein shakes with a goal of 30 grams of Protein per day.

I can honestly say that I have no desire for any food at all right now.

Also sleeved September 28th . I did okay with fluids at the surgical center, but feel way gassier in the stomach today. I keep accidentally inhaling air no matter how gently I sip my Water. So, Gas-x strips.

Not really enjoying water; yesterday I drank bone broth and a watered down, no-cal, stevia sweetened electrolyte drink. I seemed to do better with those. Also, I've had a few sugar-free popsicles, homemade Jello, and some very mild herb tea. Warm liquids and semi-solids seem easier to get down without going gassy, Today I added a thinned out Protein shake. Basically a wide variety of liquid type items.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
