Khanson,

I know how you feel. I have only been able to have one fill and now am unfilled, so I have been stuck going up and down the same 4 lbs. I go in for a fill on Oct 1, can't wait to get the scale moving down again. I also hate to work out in the heat. It will give me a headache, so now that the weather is getting better, I plan on starting up again. Good luck.

Demsvmejm,

You look great!! Way to go. We have almost the same stats and I don't see that great of a difference when I look at my before and after shots. Keep up the good work.

Okay, I wrote "Mary" yikes, that is your name, right? It used to be in your signature line...

Regardless of your name, if I messed up, sorry but you really look amazing!

Today is my six-month bandiversary and I'm having a bit of a hard time. The day after I was banded, my Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. He died Friday and we had the funeral on Monday. It's so hard to lose your father--I loved him SO much. He was a great man. I spoke at the funeral and it went well so I'm grateful I had that opportunity to pay tribute to him.

I think I've lost a little since I last updated my ticker but I'm waiting until I go to the dr. again, which is in 2 more weeks. Hopefully, I'll be in ONE-derland. As I mentioned before, I finally have a bit of restriction for the first time since surgery (after 8 fills I now have 3.3 cc in my 4 cc band). I was scheduled for a fill today but canceled because my eating has been so sporadic with my kids all here and everything that has been going on. I haven't cooked for 2 weeks or eaten on any kind of schedule so I'm not sure what this restriction is doing for me. I have pb'd a few times. I just need to pay more attention to small bites, eating slow, hunger level, and quantity before I get another fill.

All in all, I'm happy with the band. I know if I hadn't had it during the past six months with my Dad and everything else going on (building a new home, selling two other homes, living with our daughter while we are homeless, etc., etc.) I would have gained more than the 20+ lbs. I've lost. I'm thrilled about that.

I'm always encouraged by LBT and my fellow Marchies--keep up the good work. You guys look AMAZING! I'm hoping that now with my life settling down a little (we move into our new home on Oct. 12) and some restriction, I can settle into a routine and recommit to living with my band in a positive way. Good luck to everyone! Karen

momlambert, so sorry to hear about your dad. I lost mine five years ago and I still miss him a lot. It's really hard losing your parents. Stay strong, we are thinking and praying for you.

Mom lambert- I'm sorry for your loss. Hang in there.

Tammy - you look great!

demsjmevm - you too!!!

I have to take some new pics!! I'm still at the 40 lb loss mark. I got a fill a couple of weeks ago and still don't feel anmore restriction? AS a matter of fact I feel hungrier?!?

Saw the nutritionist last FRiday with my daghters, she told me that I needed more Protein, especially at Breakfast, she said that I should have 8 pz of cottage cheese, that sure seems like a lot??

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
